3 Red Flags đ© That Tell Me You're Going To Waste Your Summer đ Ceremony
Every week I hear people sharing how lost (and disappointed) they feel just weeks after a plant medicine journey because
The feeling of wonder and magic âwore offâ once again
They were hoping that this journey would bring clarity on their next steps thatthey didnât know how to get elsewhere, but it brought up anxiety that they âdonât know how to move throughâ
or that the clarity and reconnection the medicine did bring, got gradually lost while life got in the way.
And this breaks my heart because it is so preventable through the very thing Iâm speaking, writing, and coaching on every single day. My entire methodology is built on sustaining the magic in-between.
So I want to share with you 3 signs that tell me your next journey (or even non-psychedelic retreat) may be another wasted opportunity.
#1 đ©You think youâre going to start integrating after this ceremony but you didnât really integrate the last one.
âą Have you learned how to relate to the difficult emotion the last journey brought up (not from it), build a relationship with it, and learned what it wanted you to know?
âą Did you materialise the clarity the medicine gave you? In behaviour change? In boundaries? On a soul-aligned project? On a habit, skill, or hobby that feels authentic and you do consistently?
âą Have you had a regular somatic practice to re-experience re-connection, oneness, and peace in your body until you normalised true self as your baseline?
If you didnât âdo your homeworkâ from the last journey, which would have been your preparation for the next one, not much is going to change. Itâs kinda like revisiting the medicine to have the same conversation again.
Your power to change your life lies in-between journeys.
That's what makes the next one 10x more profound. The work you've done in preparation.
â Hoping that the clarity will stick is not an integration strategy.
As an old friend of mine used to say, hope is lazy optimismâŠ
#2 đ©Youâre confusing intentions with outcomes.
An intention is a direction.
It is a dance of directing the mind while trusting the journey.
And if your intention was self-love and the journey awakened you to all the ways youâve been abandoning, denying and rejecting yourself, trust that that was what was on the wayto that intention.
Often the intention is level 10. And you shall step on level 2 first.
The journey wonât always heal. Some times it does. Many times, it shows you where the work is.
As one of our students at the Psychedelic Coaching Institute where Iâve been assisting for over a year said,
âThey say psychedelics are like 10 years of therapy in 5 hours, but those 5 hours showed me what I need to do for the next 10 years in therapy.â
#3 đ© You're hoping the medicine will resolve something you haven't been willing to face sober.
What makes psychedelics healing is that they quieten the part of the brain where the inner critic and what we call the Default Mode Network lives. The part we need in order to go to work, follow rules, feed our children, and pay taxes. That part is preoccupied with whether you look pretty or sound smart, whether you said the right thing, whether your spouseâs look meant she disapproves and now youâre thrown off and spending the rest of the day mindfuckingâŠ
And it is when that gatekeeper part is quietened that the limbic brain, where your trauma, your grief, your unprocessed emotions have been stored, can come online so you can feel and heal.
Thatâs why in ceremony you may finally allow yourself to weep, to feel the pain, to surrender to it all.
But that work is not once and done. It is ongoing return to homeostasis.
It makes sense. If youâve been suppressing emotions for decades, it's simple math, it won't all be felt and healed in 4-12 hours.
If you come out of ceremony and put the lid back on to your bodyâs signals and emotions, your nervous system will gradually return to the familiar: suppression.
This is one of the things we do in The Incubator every week, guiding you to switch out of thinking and into a state of being, so that your body continues healing and returning to homeostasis.
Our ancestors did that weekly if not daily through dance, drumming and ritual. It is the way to maintain connection to the divine, to yourself, to allow the downloads to happen. It is the way to return to wholeness consistently and predictably, not every time you get to take time off work and find the medicine.
The good news is that none of these require waiting for the next journey.
You can start now, and when the medicine does come, it will only take you to the depths you couldnât have reached alone.
This is the difference between
returning to ceremony to remember again (aka, looping đ)
or staying in remembrance through the work in-between, and returning to ceremony to go deeper (aka, actualising đ)
New humans have been joining the Incubator for the last 2 weeks and already going places they couldn't take themselves alone. đ

Because your ultimate power, dear one, lies in remembering that the medicine truly is within you, you just need to learn how to tap back in.
When you realise that this very day can be experienced in gratitude, in love, in radical presence, in remembering who you are,
and itâs all always within youâŠ
Why would you waste a day?
